Programmable Ballistic Reticles...Try the Free Hawke BRC Software Before You Buy!At last there's an easy way to know the distances for each aiming point on a ballistic style reticle. It works like a trajectory computer. You enter your velocity, ED value, zero range, and scope height... And the BRC software computes the distances at each aiming point on the Hawke SR reticle. Click on the screenshot to enlarge and see the reticle data we computed for 6.5mm BRM. It works for any cartridge: .308, .243, 17HM2, 22LR, etc. Programmable Reticle and Range Finder - Click on the reticle to enlarge... you'll see the range finder in the lower left. This too is programmable for whatever size target you plan to range. (For example: 18" for a deer or antelope chest... Or 2" for a prairie dog head). These reticles have a series of hollow dots and crosses that are positioned on a vertical, at specific points, to suit the parabolic curve of a rifle trajectory. The windage bars have hollow dots at each end. Those dots are the aiming point at that distance, when shooting in a 10 mph cross wind. The reticles come in two almost identical configurations... SR6 and SR12... to suit the magnification of the riflescope. |
| ED Value... Entering Your Trajectory Into the Hawke BRC Software (ED = Estimated Degradation). The ED Value is the trajectory of your ammunition. The Hawke BRC software computes it from velocity drop or from bullet drop at a specified distance. For example the 6.5mm BRM screenshot above: I used a muzzle velocity of 2450 fps and a 100 yard velocity of 2297 fps. The Hawke BRC calculated my ED to be .1938 for the 6.5mm BRM. This velocity and bullet drop information is available on the internet for all loaded ammunition... just visit the ammunition manufacturer's websites under ballistics. If you're a hand loader, the same information is in the ballistic charts at the back of your reloading manuals. The point is, its easy to enter the ED Value and program your Hawke SR scope reticle! |
