My 2011 Hunting Story...This year’s hunt was a successful one! The last 3 years I have been skunked on my home farm, but not this year! It was a cold and windy (gusts up to 30 mph.) opening weekend of the Minnesota Deer season. I got up early and headed out to the stand. I got there and then had to wait almost 2 hours before it was the legal time to shoot, but that was ok. It was nice being out there. I was sitting in my stand facing West and guess where the deer came from…yup behind me. The deer was on the move! Thank gosh the wind was in my favor and I was able to grab my gun, turn and shoot without the deer knowing I was there. I pulled up the Contender 6.5mm BRM with the M97D Riflescope on it and only had a second to aim before it would have been behind to many trees. I put the cross hairs right on the shoulder and
|pulled the trigger. Right away the Deer buckled, kicked out its back legs
and took off. When I got out of my stand I went to where I shot at the deer. A
smile came across my face as I saw blood. I followed the blood trail about 50
yards or so and there laid my buck!!! Double Lung shot with the EABCO Contender
6.5mm BRM accuracy barrel and EABCO 6.5mm BRM Loaded ammo. I really like the
Contender because it’s a smaller rifle than the Encore. That makes it easy for
me to get in and out of my stand along with being able to pull it up faster.
I like this caliber so much that I finally bit the bullet and ordered my own Custom M97D Rifle made by EABCO. I am hoping to take this rifle out on my next hunt to New Mexico Elk hunting. I will let you know my results!
