| My Encore has a 2.5 X 7 T/C Scope and Pachmayr grips, I shoot 150 gr. 30-06 Remington Core-Lokts. Those Pachmayr grips really make the gun comfortable to hang on to! After stopping at the dump I headed off to my stand, it was going to be a short hunt, and I was just hoping I might get a crack at another doe, since I had bowhunted this farm for 4 years and never seen a good buck. I climbed into my ladder stand and hung my mono-pod from a branch, I ALWAYS use a rest when shooting my Encore. With about 5 minutes of shooting time left a buck stepped out of the woods about 50 yards in front of me, I knew he was big and I got a little shook up when I had trouble getting my mono-pod unhooked from the limb and set up, but, a doe had come out in the field and had the bucks full attention, I took a deep breath and squeezed the trigger. The buck was broadside and I hit him perfectly through both lungs! He went down after running about 40 yards. I got down and walked over to him, I didn't realize just how big he really was until I was standing next to him, he has 13 points and has a gross score of 171 3/8! - Jim Woods |
