Franz Metz with the
6.5mm BRM Model 97D Rifle in Africa
Dear
Mr. Brown,
I just wanted to tell you how great and powerful your 97D Rifle is. I
just received my 6.5 BRM rifle two weeks before my hunt to Namibia,
Africa. I worked out my loads with VihtaVuori N140 powder with 125 grain
Lapua bullets. I said this because the knock down power of this cartridge
is unbelievable. In the enclosed pictures of my hunt all of the animals
taken were with one shot, and no animal went further than 75 yards. The Gemsbok and
Springbuck were taken at 200 yards plus. The black Wildebeest was taken at
100 yards and the Zebra at 50 yards. When I shot the Gemsbok he was moving
slowly, when the bullet hit him he dropped to the ground and got up and
went 30 yards and dropped. It was almost as though he didn't feel the
shot, I noticed the same reaction with the Zebra and the Springbuck. After
the
shot,
they just moved off not running at full speed. The Black Wildebeest did
run when shot but not far, 75 yards or so. My Professional Hunter and I
called the 97D my "Pea Shooter" for lack of muzzle blast and recoil. He
had never seen such an accurate rifle and could not believe it's knock
down power for such a small caliber rifle.
Most hunters in Africa use 375 H&H Mag and up. I really believe that you
need
to
promote your fine rifles for African game. Your rifles and pistols far
exceed the Thompson Encore and Contender rifles and pistols. I only came
across your rifles and pistols by accident, I also own your 7mm Silhouette
and 300 BRM Pistols. You should consider advertising in the SCI magazine.
People need to know about your great firearms. Please feel free to use me
for a reference anytime.
-Sincerely, Franz H. Metz |
