Ruger MKIV Race Gun
- We combined the new Gold Standard trigger and Master Grade MKIV 22/45 accuracy kit from Majestic Arms and achieved the best trigger I've ever felt on a Ruger Pistol. We removed the original rear sight and scope rail. Opting for the low profile JPoint Red Dot sight. Trigger system upgraded to Gold Standard Trigger, Pendulum Sear, Full Mass Hammer. Also removed the magazine disconnect. Finished off with anodized aluminum magazine
bases and Hogue wrap around grips. We installed several upgrades:
Majestic Arms Gold Standard trigger, Pendulum sear, full mass hammer,
and anodized aluminum magazine base pads. Hogue wrap around grips are
low profile and add finger grooves for consistent grip each time you
grasp. The Majestic Arms Master Grade Kit for Ruger MKIV and MKIV 22/45 features a full mass hammer for reliable ignition and a Pendulum sear for balanced engagement and release. The washer/spacer removes the undesirable magazine disconnect feature from the MKIV. The Majestic Arms "Gold Standard" Trigger for Ruger MKII, MKIII, MKIV, and 22/45 is adjustable for pre-travel, over-travel, and Length of Pull. AND, the oversized plunger face gives smoother trigger spring compression. Mostly Drop-In Fit - The Ruger MKIV Match Grade Accurizing kit combo is a pretty easy upgrade if you are familiar with disassembling and re-assembling your Ruger MKIV. Because you will be dis- and re- assembling several times as you adjust the pre-travel and over-travel to perfection. Figuring the screw top like the 12 position face of a clock, the pre-travel moves 2/1000ths per number and the over travel moves 3/1000ths per number... So you can REALLY fine tune the trigger down to the smallest allowable movement. Fitting the Safety to the New Sear - You will need to flex the sear forward and capture it with the internal safety notch as you insert the pin that holds the two of them on the gun. Next you install the hammer with the bushing that removes the magazine disconnect. Once this is in, you can re-install the external safety. Now, the safety is the only place we discovered that any fitting was needed... Everything else was drop-in fit. The internal safety notch was too tight and would not capture the sear completely. This was solved by stoning the notch until it captured the sear. We spoke with Dino at Majestic Arms and he said you can also just notch the edge of the sear to give internal safety clearance. Overall Impression - I think this trigger and Accurizing system is excellent. |
